Kick-off Discussion: Embracing Innovation at SXSW CLE 2025

Discussion Prompt:

  • Hey everyone! Welcome to the SXSW CLE 2025 kickoff. As the event begins, let’s get the conversation started about the future of law and technology.
  • Which sessions are you most excited to attend, and what are you hoping to learn or discuss further? Feel free to share pre-event thoughts or expectations—it’s a great way to network and find like-minded colleagues!
  • Don’t forget to check back and update us with your experiences as the event progresses. Looking forward to a lively exchange of ideas and insights!

Guidelines:

  • Connect with fellow attendees by sharing your schedule highlights or favorite speakers.
  • Post-session, jump in to keep the dialogue going about key points and takeaways.
  • Let’s make this platform a vibrant hub for reflection and future-facing dialogue during and after the CLE event!

I get excited for the entire track every year, but I am excited for a few things in particular.

  1. Will Immersive Art Break Copyright?

I am so fascinated by the idea of Meow Wolf. I’ve never been to a location, but it sounds awesome. With the strain that copyright law is under with AI and streaming, I’m curious to hear about new ways that copyright might be struggling with immersive art.

  1. Legal Tech Frontlines: Innovations for Attorneys

This one is exciting to me because it’s a new approach to CLE. I’m listed as the speaker, but the goal is really a guided, inclusive discussion on the state of technology in practice. I’m planning to walk through some of the tech implementations we run at Promise, but I’m excited to hear from you all what hurdles you face and how you overcome them. Come ready to participate!

  1. Guiding the Gavel: Evolving Legal Leadership

This is another one where it is more about the approach to the CLE than anything, but I’m looking forward to a robust discussion between these incoming leaders of the Texas Bar. A frank discussion between the four candidates of only two offices is sure to illuminate how attorneys at large see the practice of law progressing.

I’m actually pretty interested in all of the other topics as well (I ought to be, I curated them!), but these ones stand out to me as something new.

After the last session of the day, we’re heading over to the registrant lounge for ice cream and drinks. See you there!
